Three, no four thoughts on Proverbs 30

Proverbs 31 speaks directly to woman and the church.  We will read it on Friday.  Proverbs 30 deals directly with men and warnings for life and we can all learn from it.  Throughout the Proverb, the author gives examples to help the reader understand his writings.

v.15 Three, no four things that are never satisfied:

The grave

A barren womb (someone who can not have a child)

The thirsty desert

The blazing Fire

This is to remind us that satisfaction only comes from the Lord.  You can spend your entire life looking for completion and continually wanting more.  The world will never provide the complete satisfaction that we desire, so we keep looking.  Only Christ can fill that need and that void in our life!

v.18 Three, no four that amaze me:

Do I have to understand all of God's creation?  Absolutely not, but they must all be treated as gifts.  Who can understand it all?  No one!  Who could ever dream or think up the creation we have on the earth?  Only God!

v.21 Three, no four that make the earth tremble:

I am ready for the earth to tremble, shake and become a new creation.  I am ready for fool's to have their eyes open upon Christ's return.  I am ready for the last (slaves) to become first.  I am ready for the bride (church) to be with her husband (Christ).

v.24 Three, no four that are small, but unusually wise:

What can we learn from animals/insects.  They are God's creation and have something to teach us all.

v.29 Three, no four that walk with a stately stride:

More learning from animals on boldness.  We need to be bold in our walk, unashamed and ready to give an answer!

The Message has an interesting interpretation of the first few verses of this chapter. It sees the skeptic who claims there is no God, people are just animals, and we can do whatever we want. Sound familiar? The same message that is being pushed by society today has been around for a long time. Satan has been spreading lies on earth since the garden of Eden. Know the truth: Out God is a living God who created you and loves you. He gave us free will so that we could choose to worship Him and spend eternity with Him. Choose to follow Him and reject the lie that has been spread for thousands of years.

Every word of God comes true! This is so amazing! Because of God, I *do* know the future, yet do I act on it? I know that Christ is returning soon, but how many people did I tell this good news to yesterday? God has told us his plan and I know his word is true so I need make every moment count for Him.

He begs a favor that God would make him neither rich nor poor. He realized his weaknesses and asks for God's help. I don't know anyone who would ask to be in poverty, but who asks not to be rich? God please give me that kind of wisdom! Let me pray to receive the things I need and pray to reject the "good" things that could be a stumbling block for me or my family.

Verse 5 really spoke to me when I read it. Every word of God is true, and He does protect us. Often when we get stressed or worried we try to handle problems on our own. I knoe that personally, I get so wrapped up in trying to make everything go smoothly, that I forget to give it to God. He says he will be our strength, and He will protect us. So why is it so hard to let him?
"He is a shield to all to come to Him for protection."
We need to come to Him and He will protect us, because every word He says is true.

Verse 17 was an eye opener. Obeyiing your parents is such a simple task, yet we find it to be most difficult. Even for tjose of us with great parents, it's hard to be obedient sometimes. It stresses theimportance of respecting your parents in vs. 17. It says that "The eye that mocks a father and despises a mother's instructions will be plucked out by ravens of the valley and eaten by vultures."
That seems really harsh- but if we cannot obey our earthly parents, how are we to obey our Heavenly Father? This is something that I have really come to think about lately. I am hoping to become better about living out what God's word tells me to do.

I didn't know that the "three things that are too amazing for me, four that I do not understand" meant "three, no four." Is that really what is said?

I loved v.18-19 about all of the beautiful things that GOD has made. The eagles, the seas, the snakes....it's so amazing!

V.4 says "Who has gone up to Heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of His hands?....What is His Name? And the Name of His Son? Tell me if you know!" We need to know Who Jesus and GOD are. They HAVE gone up to Heaven and gone down.

v5 reminds me of that song Ryan Carson sings, "You are a Shield, You are a shield around me." God is a shield, and we can take refuge in Him!
