Proverbs 21

Are we greedy?  I think we are a greedy nation, but is the home you live in a greedy home?  My wife is a giver and I know that God put her in my life to help me with my greediness.  Many of us think that we don't have enough to give or we don't have time to give, but we need to ask another question before anything else...

Proverbs 23:26 "My son, give me your heart.  May your eyes take delight in following my ways."

Have you given God your heart today?  He wants your heart before anything else you may try to give Him.

Proverbs 21:3 "The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer Him sacrifices."

Our God is a greedy God when it comes to us.  He is not looking for our time and talents, He is looking for our HEARTS first!  Everything will fall into place correctly if we give Him our hearts on a daily basis.

Proverbs 21:2 "People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart."

Have you taken the time you need to with God today?  Is your heart focused on Christ?  After you read this take time to pray...pray however God leads.

Some people are always wanting more while the godly love to give. Our culture promotes having and getting more. Just 5 minutes on the tv or radio will show you this. It takes God to change your heart to see the world the way that He does.

I can't remember where I heard the story, but it was about a very rich man who once told a reporter that he gives 90% of his money away. He explained to the confused reporter that it was all God's money, every penny. The decision then was not how much of his money he was going to give away, but how much of God's money he was going to keep.

I pray that God can continue to change my heart so that He can replace that desire for "what can I buy for myself" with a real passion for "what can I give to others". I know I cannot do this on my own. I want God to work a change in me so I can make a difference for Him.

V.13, "If a man shuts his ears to the city of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered." So when the poor cry out, when they need your help, ask GOD what you should do, and when He tells you, do it! Otherwise, if you don't help, then when YOU yourself need help and cry out, YOU yourself will not be helped.

V.23, "He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity." Again, GOD is talking to your tongue. HE says that if you are watching what you say, you will avoid calamity. Calamity means disaster!! In Latin, the word "Incolumis" means "unhurt, safe and sound." Do you want to me "incolumis"? Then guard your tongue.
I have a friend who lives far away and I don't think is a Christian. This person once said to me that we could rise up against GOD if we wanted to. Well in verse 30, GOD says, "There is NO wisdom, NO insight, No plan that can succeed against the LORD." I think that this verse is so powerful! NOTHING can go on without it being in GOD's will and without GOD knowing.
Nik said that we should give. Well maybe you read that and thought "Oh, but I don't have the time!" "I don't know where to start!" "No, no, no!" I thought that maybe every month, your entire could get about $10 and use that money to help the poor sometime that month. If GOD leads you to give more than you can do that! But if your family altogether raised $10 each month, and did this once a month (made a special trip to Atlanta to give to the homeless, gave to a food shelter...), think about how many families you could help! And if everyone in our youth did this with their family, over 20 families could be helped! And just imagine if our entire church did this! Pray to GOD with your family and you can decide what GOD wants your family to do.
