v.24 "There are "friends" who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother."
There are two types of friends, the ones who will cut you down and tear you apart when you are not looking and the ones that would defend you no matter what. Are you a fake friend or a real friend?
I have been so blessed to have some of the greatest friends that surround me. Guys that I can laugh with, have fun with and be very serious with. These guys correct me, encourage me and are an example for me. They are not only fiends, but GODLY friends...there is a big difference. I want to surround myself with people who have the same thoughts, morals and standards that I do. If I surrounded myself with friends of this world (and I have in the past) it all leads to fights, hurt feelings, destruction and pain.
Psalm 1 really points out the difference:
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
So, the real question is, Are you a Godly friend or a worldly friend?
