Proverbs 14

Yesterday was such a crazy day for me in so many ways.  Monday really reinforced what Proverbs 14 tells us over and over again.

Be careful who you surround yourself with!

"Stay away from fools, for you won't find knowledge on their lips."

People of this world can sound so smart, but does their knowledge line up with God's wisdom?

"A King rejoices in wise servants, but is angry with those who disgrace him."

The old line goes, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me...

Proverbs 17:17 "A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in a time of need."

"The best thing that anybody ever said to me is that you're only as good as the people you associate with. Look at the five friends that you spend the most time with, that's who you are."

Verse 34 really got my attention today. Devotion to God can make a nation great while avoiding God can make her weak.

I think most would agree that our country has strayed from God. Just remember our nation is just a collection of people of which you are a part. Stand out for God in whatever you are doing. God doesn't promise it will be easy but He will bless us. Remember it is not one person trying to make a difference. It is one almighty God making a difference through you!

Remember to to pray for our leaders and for the future of our country. It's not too late for our country to turn it's attention back to God and His wisdom. Don't accept defeat! Our God created the entire universe with His wisdom. Think what He can do for our country if we let Him!

I have to say that verse 23 spoke volumes to me
"Proverbs 14:23 All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty".
The first time I read the verse I contemplated my job and how I am so quick to "speak" and so slow to "do".
After contemplating the verse for a few minutes I realized that the verse was also referring to my commitment to God. It's so often that we as Christians know the right answers and say the right words but fail to do the work - "James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also". Salvation may be a free gift but, following Christ is "WORK" day in and day out. God demands so much of us that the only way we can fulfill our obligation to Him is through His power. I think I'm going to print this verse and hang it on my wall at work, I definitely need to be reminded of it daily....

Rachel Gragg- I love the verse "A king rejoices in a wise servant, but is angry with those who disgrace him." We need to be wise servants. I think that this verse could also be told as GOD being our King. Then that would say that we are His servants. If we are GOD's servants (which we are), then look at yourself. Are you wise? Or do you go around being worldy; do you disgrace you Master-Jesus Christ? Think about it. Rachel
