Verse 16 really stuck for me this morning:
"Wise people think before they act; fools don't-and even brag about their foolishness."
I so remember the dumb things that I did before I made Christ Lord. I would brag to my friends about this stupid thing or that stupid thing. We would all laugh and thought it was all so funny. My reaction now is how sad! How sad is it that we would laugh at sin.
Even today I catch myself laughing at sin. An immoral situation on TV, a drunk person, a crude joke...All of this sin, we should not laugh at, but we should be broken.
My daily goal is to be more like Christ and I know He is not laughing.
Ecclesiastes 7:6 "A fool's laughter is quickly gone, like thorns crackling in a fire."

How would you describe your life? Hope deferred or dreams fulfilled? Keep your sights on God and He will never disappoint you!
The next time you receive criticism or discipline, accept it for what it is and think about how you can change in the future. Trust me! If you can learn to do this while you are young, you will make your life a lot easier when you are older. (Here's a clue: discipline and criticism *never* go away!)
God has a lot to say about working hard and not being lazy. Remember that no matter what job you are doing, do it as if God was your boss. You might be the only "Jesus" that they ever see. Have a good attitude and work hard. (even if your job stinks...)
Rachel Gragg- This Proverb had 4 parts that really stuck out to me:
1. Gaurd you tongue! v.3 The Bible really has a lot to say about how bad your tongue and you lips can be. It says to gaurd your lips WITH YOUR LIFE. I think that that is pretty important!
2. Riches can be bad, so watch out. v.7
3. Pride is such a horrible thing! Watch out! v.10! The Bible says a lot about pride and how horrible it is, and this specific verse stuck out to me a lot! I encourage you to read it again!
4. Discipline! I know that everyone hates discipline, but if you are disciplined, the Bible says that that shows love from you parent. v.18 and v.24. Disciplining in the right way shows love from a parent. Just make sure you don't try to discipline your parent.
This Proverb says a lot. Rachel
Verse 24 though i might not like it i agree with it "we" being me and the youth group and every child on earth might want different, but our parents have more than likely been there and know whats best whether "we" believe it to be or not. And also as i have read the proverbs i have realized how much they apply to my life and probably most peoples, and its funny how this book is about wisdom and that is exactly what it is wisdom. ~Jordan Bryan
wow! this proverb covered alot! i thought that the whole center of this passage was about wisdom... i also have a question about this one... v.23 can someone explain that? i also took this passage as a wake up call. we turn on the TV and see all these things about getting rich quick, disobeying parents, and being lazy. God is saying that is a deliberate sin! this was a great chapter and i sure learned alot.
I agree with Nik on the fact that we need to be broken. I know when I am in the Word more, I am less desensitized to the things of this world. When I see evil things and witness acts of wickedness that used to be funny to me, it now saddens me. That's also part of being a new creation in Christ.(The old ways are gone).
Proverbs 13:25
"The godly eat to their hearts' content, but the belly of the wickd goes hungry."
I like verse 25 because we all have a void that we have tried to fill with other things than Christ. Unti He fills our hearts and minds, we will go hungry.
